  1. Dave Ramsey's whole message is about rising above hard times around you, and having hope in the midst of tough economic times. If you listen to his radio show or see his tv show - you'll know that he doesn't deny that times are tough, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't have hope, and refuse to join in the doom and gloom that everyone around us is peddling. Even in hard times people can succeed, and fortunes can be made. That's what his message is about. Succeeding despite the obstacles.

Personally I'm having one of my best years ever, in the middle of a recession. Go figure!

  2. Yes mountain I understand your concern about the fear of Denial and where it could take you, but hope is not a place where things cant get done as you say "fear is...purposeful, positive action." I like examples and reality too. But where you point to countries failing... well that happens all the time. Take a look at Argentina 2000 in fact its the largest country to ever collapse and yet it survived, not yet prospering but will someday (hopefully). Also fear reality has brought us Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam, while hope has brought us Gandhi, Kennedy, Mandela, the Dalai Lama and the long awaited reunion of the E Street band and Springsteen. Jobs.... yes 10% is bad but why wasn't anything said 5 years ago when S. Africa was experiencing 25% unemployment or Australia years back with 18% now both have recovered. These were Reality, where was the depression? Did Switzerland suffer WW2 - it was all around them? Point is whether its high times or depressionistic prudence pays. If you road your money up... well ... riding it down is part of the ride. Dave... I think wants to smooth out the ride.
