Planted one of our gardens!
We planted one of our gardens. We're doing raised gardens and have a total of five. The other four will probably not be completed until the end of the summer. We planted Strawberries, Zuchinni and White Onions. We'll grow peas again in the small containers just for fun. For the main gardens though I'm aiming for large quantities of items we eat lots of instead of a small variety of a bunch of different vegetables. I'd like to have surplus vegetables so we can try preserving them via freezing, drying, etc. and also I'd like us to have surplus to give away (or sell).

Welcome to the world of gardening. We have raised strawberries for years. I'm not sure how many plants you started, but we started a bed four years ago with 100 plants. You clip off the berries the first year and keep the runners clipped so the plants can get established. Then the next years, keep the runners clipped or at least clean them out the end of the year. Our 100 plants give us 28 gallons of beautiful berries each year! Good luck!
ReplyDeletehave you ever tried the hanging plants? I am considering trying those out this year... Great blog...thanks for the frequent posts!
